Driving the top ranker seven-seater Teramont, one of the most versatile SUVs in the market, was no doubt a super fun experience for us. Embodiment of quality for its class segment using renowned German engineering, we were mighty impressed with Teramont’s functionality, safety, and connectivity.
The largest SUV in the Volkswagen family, the new Teramont offers a bold design as well as interior upgrades, advanced connectivity, a new digitalised cockpit, all at a price designed to draw attention in the crowded family SUV segment.
Exuding and delivering a comfortable ride, it provides tons of passenger and cargo space. You would be surprised to note that opening behind the rear hatch is a flexible luggage compartment volume of 583 to 1,571 litres. Similarly, the Teramont makes maximum use of its three-row seating layout to offer space for up to seven adults, boasting a cavernous 153.7 cu-ft of total passenger volume.
Available in two engines 2.0L TSI 4 cylinder with 220 HP, and a 3.6L FSI with 280 HP, Teramont offers three different trim levels; Trendline, Comfortline and Highline – with the option of adding an R-Line package to the Comfortline or Highline.
We must say, we were very fascinated with a range of driver assistance features as a result of the platform Modular Transverse Toolkit (MQB) which is currently Volkswagen’s most widely used technology platform. Incidentally, this Teramont is built on the same MQB chassis architecture as most other vehicles in the Volkswagen line-up.
The face lifted Teramont now has an interesting, modified exterior. The new exterior includes a completely facelifted front grille fitted with the new Volkswagen logo. The headlight and taillight design has been revamped and upgraded to full-LED lights, in addition to an updated front and rear bumper. The Teramont also has a new lower design front and diffusor with a chrome silver lip.
The refreshed interior for Volkswagen’s largest SUV is packed with value, comfort, and capability. The interior design is clean and functional, with a premium feel. Driver controls are positioned for optimal ergonomics and usability, and simple, driver-centric displays enhance involvement behind the wheel. The seat position, height adjustment, and the spacing between the pedals are all designed for maximum driver comfort. With available contrast stitching on the surfaces and door trim as well as a redesigned steering wheel, the model offers a high-end feel.
The vehicle also adapts to every family’s needs, for example there are enough charging-points to keep everyone up to speed and enough storage compartments to keep the family belongings stored when on the move. You will be thrilled to know that it has seven charging points and 17 cup holders.
We all like our cars to have loads of safety features. You will be thrilled to find the collection here.
Offering a combination of both passive and active safety systems, Teramont has an automatic post-collision braking system. Passive safety features include three-point seatbelt for all seats, side-curtain head-protection airbags that cover all three rows, and reinforced safety-cage construction, along with several electronic safety systems, such as an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). From front to back, some devices work together to help keep all occupants stay safe. They are area view (360 camera) including rear view camera, second row with 3 ISOFIX points (second row with room for three child seats), blind spot monitor with rear traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, park assist, park distance control front and rear, and front assist with autonomous emergency braking.
The Teramont comes in seven colours, three of them being new; Pyrite Silver Metallic, and Aurora Red Chroma.
In a nutshell, we would like to stress that Teramont makes life easy, from driving long distances to carrying a lot of people and luggage. With a smooth ride, plentiful features and smart packaging, this incredible SUV has a host of strengths, and you will certainly be proud to own.
