In an inspiring effort to promote environmental awareness and sustainability, Mysk Al Mouj has introduced an internal initiative that brings the spirit of World Environment Day closer to home — and into the hands of its employees.
Two weeks prior to World Environment Day, 18 employees at Mysk Al Mouj were each given a seed with a unique responsibility: to plant it, nurture it, and care for it as it grows. The idea was simple yet symbolic — to give life to something small, watch it flourish through dedication and care, and in doing so, reflect on the nurturing role we all play in preserving our planet.
The initiative, led by Hotel Manager Ms. Meenu Singh, was designed not only as a friendly internal competition but also as a meaningful act to foster awareness around green living and sustainability in everyday life.

“Environmental responsibility is not just a global conversation — it starts at a personal level,” said Ms. Meenu Singh. “With this seed challenge, we wanted to spark that personal connection with nature, encourage mindfulness, and inspire a long-term commitment to the environment, even though small daily actions.”
Employees took the challenge seriously, with many going above and beyond to create nurturing environments for their plants, learning about soil types, sunlight requirements, and even naming their green companions. Over the course of two weeks, staff shared photos, tips, and friendly updates on plant growth, creating a sense of camaraderie and healthy competition.
On June 5, coinciding with World Environment Day, all participating plants were presented for review. The employee whose plant exhibited the most vibrant growth, health, and care will be awarded special vouchers in recognition of their dedication. More importantly, the initiative sparked meaningful conversations within the hotel community about sustainability, patience, and the beauty of nature.
This initiative is just one part of Mysk Al Mouj’s broader commitment to green practices. The hotel has consistently worked to minimize its environmental footprint through energy conservation, waste reduction, and community engagement. By involving staff directly in sustainability efforts, the hotel aims to cultivate a culture that values ecological responsibility at every level of the organization.
“Our people are the heart of our hotel,” added Ms. Meenu Singh. “If we can instill a sense of environmental stewardship within our team, that spirit extends naturally to our guests, our services, and our future initiatives.”
Mysk Al Mouj believes that such grassroots initiatives — though small in scale — are powerful in creating lasting impressions. They remind us all that environmental change begins with a single step, or in this case, a single seed.
