Oman, XX May 2024 – Audi Oman has been honoured with the first-ever Eco Mobility Award at Oman Sustainability Week (OSW), held from April 29 to May 1, 2024, at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The event was held under the patronage of His Excellency Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, and attended by numerous delegates from various ministries, prominent business executives, and key figures influential in the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) sector.
This award was introduced to honour organisations making significant strides towards Oman’s national Net Zero 2050 goal. In collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and Oman Environmental Services Holding Company – be’ah, this new category spotlighted key innovators in the mobility sector who are crucial in driving sustainability transformations.
A panel comprised of senior representatives from notable organisations such as the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, among others, evaluated entries using a framework tailored for this purpose.
Christian Nehme, General Manager of Premium Motors, commented on the win: “We are thrilled to receive the Eco Mobility Award. This award is a testament to Audi’s commitment to innovation and our proactive approach to sustainability.”
The award underscores Audi Oman’s leadership in sustainable mobility within the Sultanate and sets a global benchmark for the automotive industry. This recognition marks a significant milestone in Audi Oman’s pursuit of a sustainable future, propelling the nation towards its environmental objectives and fostering a culture that values sustainability and innovative solutions.
Audi’s ambitious strategy includes launching more than ten fully electric models and their derivatives by 2025, aimed at reducing the fleet’s ecological footprint by 30% compared to 2015. The company’s commitment to sustainability extends to achieving carbon-neutral production across all its facilities by 2025, demonstrating a holistic approach that covers sourcing raw materials, production processes, and the entire lifecycle of its vehicles, including their recycling or reuse.
In Oman, Audi’s dedication is showcased by the establishment of over 50 EV charging stations and the introduction of models such as the Audi e-tron GT quattro, Audi RS e-tron GT, Audi Q8 e-tron, and Q8 Sportback e-tron, which combine luxury with zero-emission driving. This robust infrastructure supports Audi’s comprehensive strategy, which includes the Audi Mission Zero programme that aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals to achieve net carbon neutrality by 2050.
